Heinrich Gothot

Heinrich Gothot (born March 18, 1889 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ; † September 7, 1963 there ) was a German entrepreneur in mechanical engineering .

Heinrich Gothot grew up as the son of the entrepreneur Ferdinand Gothot (1856–1926) in Mülheim an der Ruhr. After attending grammar school, he studied various humanities and natural sciences at the universities of Berlin, Munich and Bonn, with an interruption due to the First World War, in which he participated as a soldier. In 1920 he finished his studies with a doctorate in Dr. phil.

After completing his studies, he joined his father's company, Maschinenfabrik Ferdinand Gothot GmbH , and took over its management in 1927. Gothot advocated making better use of the diverse technical possibilities of the incipient rationalization and was active as an inventor and designer. In the early 1950s, he laid the foundations for the automation of his company.

In the last years of his life he lived withdrawn and mainly occupied himself with work on scientific topics.
