Heinrich Halbisen

Heinrich Halbisen (* around 1390 in Basel ; † before August 24, 1451, presumably in Basel) was a Basel businessman and politician and the founder of paper production in Basel.

Life

Heinrich Halbisen was a member of the Small Council from 1426 and 1435–1436 guild master of the saffron guild in Basel . He was co-owner of the internationally active Halbisen company. At the time of the Basel Council , he set up the first paper mill in Basel in a mill acquired in 1433 on the Riehenteich in Kleinbasel , which is expressly mentioned for the first time in 1440. He later relocated production to the St. Alban pond in the St. Alban valley in Grossbasel.
