Heinrich IV of Praunheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinrich IV. Von Praunheim (* around 1260, named from 1279; † between 1303 and 1305) from the family of the Knights of Praunheim was - with interruptions - the imperial school of the imperial city of Frankfurt am Main from 1279 .

family

His father was Heinrich III. von Praunheim , also Reichsschultheiß from Frankfurt, his mother Gertrud von Fraunstein .

Heinrich IV was married to a Liutgard whose family name is unknown. From this marriage emerged:

Heinrich IV died before his father.

politics

In 1279/1280 Heinrich IV. Is referred to as an under -school, while his father appears as an under- school . In 1280 he is then (sole) mayor, which lasts until 1284, then he is called again in 1288, 1291 and 1300 to 1303 as mayor. In the interstices, a number of other nobles take office. There are also overlapping terms of office in which those involved act as upper and lower rulers. This change of office and the division of the mayor's office among several bearers reflect a conflict over the Reichsschultheissen's office, whose powers are dwindling against an increasingly powerful urban patriciate that is increasingly acting autonomously vis-à-vis the Reich and tries to force the knights out of urban politics.
