Carlin Isles (born November 21, 1989 in Massillon , Ohio ) is an American rugby union and 7-a-side rugby player. He played 7-a-side rugby for the United States national team and was the 36th fastest sprinter in the United States with a personal best of 10.24 seconds over 100 meters. He was allowed to play for the national team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , where rugby 7 was introduced as an Olympic sport. He also played American football from December 2013 for the Detroit Lions in the National Football League (NFL) on the position of wide receiver . After only two months in the Lions Practice Squad , he left the NFL and signed a contract with the Glasgow Warriors - a Scottish rugby team that plays in the international Pro12 .

The short film "The Fastest Man in Rugby", shot for ESPN and Grantland, describes the path and ambition of Isles to be accepted into the national team and to participate in the Olympic Games.
