The Piano Land is a cruise ship and sails under the flag of the British overseas territory of Bermuda . Home port is Hamilton . Until 2019 the ship was in service as Oriana for P&O Cruises .

history

The ship was ordered in 1991 from the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg and laid down on March 11, 1993 under the hull number 636. The launch took place on June 30, 1994 . After the takeover on April 2, 1995, the Oriana was christened on April 6, 1995 by Elizabeth II in Southampton and put into service on April 9, 1995.

In December 2012, the passengers became infected with norovirus , which affected around 400 passengers.

For the total solar eclipse on March 20, 2015 , the central line of which ran through the Faroe Islands , the ship was moored in Tórshavn .

On the evening of April 18, 2015, a fire broke out in the Oriana's engine room . The fire was quickly extinguished and the safety of the passengers was not endangered. After an inspection in PortMiami , the ship was able to continue its voyage a day later.

The last cruise for P&O Cruises ended in August 2019 and the ship then moved to the new owners in China . In the same month the ship was renamed Piano Land . The ship is owned by Astro Ocean, a joint venture between China Travel Services and China COSCO Shipping Corporation.
