Live and act

Müller studied in Italy and made a large number of studies after frescoes by Raphael in Rome and Perugia . He also made many “very lively” traditional costume drawings there.

Müller made a name for himself in the Grand Duchy in the first half of the 19th century with numerous colored portrait drawings and portraits in chalk and oil . In particular, he portrayed people from high society and the nobility. Contemporaries described him as a “master of chalk drawing and oil painting” as well as “an artist of reputation”.

In 1835 and 1836 his pictures were shown at the exhibition of the Grand Ducal Art Institute in Weimar.
