Heinrich Scheele (entrepreneur)

Heinrich Scheele (* in Cologne ; † ibid) was a German company founder at the end of the 19th century.

Life

Heinrich Scheele was a pioneer of German electric vehicle construction. From 1899 to 1906 all types of electrically powered vehicles were manufactured under his name, including passenger cars, trucks and fire engines. The legal successor was the Cologne electromobile company Heinrich Scheele from 1906 to approx. 1924 .

Trucks

In 1899 the Heinrich Scheele motor vehicle factory was founded in Cologne - Melaten , which was located at Aachener Straße 163. Another company location was located at Maastricher Strasse 41/43 in Cologne. From 1906 to 1928 the company was called Kölner Elektromobil-Werke Heinrich Scheele . From 1927 the company was based in Cologne-Bickendorf .

Delivery vans and heavy commercial vehicles with up to two electric motors and 1.5 to 5 t payloads were built, which were manufactured under the Scheele and KEW brands until 1928. The electric motors built into the rear of the vehicles were obtained from Schuckert and Geist in Cologne. The 3-ton garbage trucks were equipped with a 10 HP electric motor. A special feature of the commercial vehicles was that they had a special, double-acting steel band brake. No mountain supports had to be installed in these vehicles , and resistance and short-circuit brakes also contributed, e.g. B. to prevent rolling backwards. In addition to electric trucks, a few small buses were also built. One year before the beginning of the global economic crisis , the company was given up in 1928.

Trivia

Wilhelm Karmann was employed as a department and operations manager in Scheele's company between 1899 and 1901.
