Heinrich Schulz (local history researcher)

Heinrich Schulz (born September 6, 1868 in Grabow (Lüchow) , † January 15, 1953 in Lüneburg ) was a German teacher , organist and local researcher .

Life

Schulz was a teacher and organist in Egestorf from 1902 to 1928 . In 1916 he was appointed cantor . After the First World War he was also a district school inspector. In 1928 he retired, which he spent in Lüneburg.

In 1904 Schulz was co-founder and choirmaster of the men's choir "Frohsinn" and founder of the church choir in Egestorf. In 1910, on his initiative, the Beautification Association (later Heimatverein, now Tourist Association) was founded, which in 1914 built the first observation tower on the Klinkenberg. As a local researcher and local writer, he dealt, among other things, with the history of the churches and courts of his homeland and left over fifty publications, including in Harburg, Lüneburg and Lüchower newspapers. In a contribution about the sandstone pulpit of the Michaeliskirche in Lüneburg he first showed the hitherto unknown builder. Schulz also worked on Eduard Kück's "Lüneburg Dictionary".
