Heinz-Helge Nieswandt

Heinz-Helge Nieswandt (born October 30, 1958 ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Heinz-Helge Nieswandt studied from 1978 to 1988 Ancient History , Classical Archeology, Education , Art History and German Studies at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . In 1988 he completed his studies with a Magister Artium , the topic of the master's thesis was "Museum didactic activities in the Archaeological Museum of the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster". The doctorate followed in 1995, also in Münster, with the thesis "Iconographic and Iconological Investigations on the Representation of Rulership by Xanthian Dynasty Tombs". Since 1997 he has been a research assistant at the Archaeological Museum and since December 2002 curator there.

Nieswandt works primarily on ancient numismatics , especially on the effect as a mass medium in matters of religion and politics. In addition, he is researching the Hellenistic residence city of Lysimacheia , where he conducted field research in the central settlement ( Chora ).
