Since the 1980s, Meencke's neuropathological work in the field of epileptology, based on the work of Veith, again focused on the importance of developmental disorders of the brain for the development of epilepsy. The epilepsy surgery made it possible to investigate basic physiological phenomena of epilepsy in cooperation with institutes for basic research of the Charite.
