Heinz Forker

Heinz Forker (born September 4, 1912 - March 18, 1980 ) was a German tuba player . He was a student of Kurt Kretschmer .

From 1927 to 1929 he attended the conservatory in Dresden. In 1932 he passed his matriculation examination at the Dresden orchestral school. From 1933 he worked as a freelance entertainment musician. From 1934 to 1950 Heinz Forker was a member of the Dresden State Opera . In 1950 an engagement at the Berlin State Opera followed. From 1951 he played again in the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden. In 1943 he took a position as a lecturer at the University of Music in Dresden and from 1967 at the Vienna State Academy .

The conductors Herbert von Karajan and Hans Knappertsbusch called him the "world champion" of the tuba.
