Heinz Kortenpaket (born January 2, 1907 in Berlin ; † probably 1944/1945 [missing]) was a German papyrologist .

Life

Heinz Kortenpaket, the son of the elementary school teacher Max Kortenpaket, attended the Berlin Gymnasium at the Gray Monastery from 1916 to 1925 and then studied Classical Philology and Ancient History at the Berlin University . He spent one semester each at the universities of Vienna and Munich . In Berlin, he especially followed up with the ancient historian and papyrologist Ulrich Wilcken , who also promoted his further career.

On October 6, 1931 Korte bag was with a thesis on the southern and eastern trade Egypt doctorate . He then passed the state examination for higher teaching qualifications and prepared himself as an assessor for school service. However, his goal remained a scientific career. For 1934/1935 he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . With the support of his doctoral supervisor Wilcken, he took a leave of absence from school to work in the papyrus collection of the Royal Museums . There he published Roman tax lists from Egypt. On December 13, 1939 he was appointed curator of the papyrus collection with the title "Professor".

In 1941, Kortenpaket was called up for military service. He has been missing in Russia since 1944. His planned edition of the papyrus finds from Hermupolis no longer came about.
