Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria

The honorary title Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria was created by Decree No. 960 on June 15, 1948 by the Presidium of the National Assembly and was intended to honor Bulgarian or foreign nationals for heroic deeds or services in the defense of the country and its allied nations.

Appearance

The award is a gold five-pointed star with a diameter of 34 mm. On the lapel it bears the three-line inscription ГЕРОЙ НА НР БЪЛГАРИЯ (Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria).

Carrying method

The award is carried on a red ribbon that is attached between two gold carrying handles.

Awards

With the award of the title also the simultaneous award of the order "Georgi Dimitrov" was connected. By the turn of 1990, the country's highest title had been awarded 58 times.
