Helen Keogh

Helen Catherine Anne Keogh (born June 3, 1951 in Dublin ) is an Irish politician .

Life

Keoghs studied at University College Dublin . Her political career began with the Progressive Democrats , which she joined in December 1985. In 1987 she ran unsuccessfully for her party for a seat in the 25th Dáil Éireann . In 1989 she was nominated Senator in the 19th Seanad Éireann by Taoiseach Charles Haughey and was a member of the House of Lords of the Irish Parliament until 1992 when she was elected to the 27th Dáil Éireann for her party in the constituency of Dún Laoghaire . After she left the Dáil Éireann in 1997, she was nominated by Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in the 21st Seanad Éireann. On June 14, 2000 Keogh moved from the Progressive Democrats to the Fine Gael . In 2002 she left the Seanad Éireann. In 2011 she ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the 24th Seanad Éireann.

Since December 2003 she has been Chief Executive of World Vision Ireland . Keogh is married and has two daughters.
