Helga Albrecht

Helga Albrecht (* 1955 in Berlin ) is a German midwife and was President of the German Midwives Association (DHV) from 2006 to 2009 .

In 1976 Albrecht passed her midwifery exam at the women's clinic in Berlin-Neukölln and then worked full-time in the delivery room until 1995 , then part-time in various clinics. Since 1983 she has also been working as a freelancer with birth preparation, postnatal gymnastics and postpartum care, and from 1996 to 2000 also in home obstetrics. Since 1996 she has been working exclusively as a freelancer.

In addition to her practical work as a midwife, Albrecht was state chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Midwives Association from 1991 to 1998, and from 1997 to 2002 a member of the presidium of the Federation of German Midwives (BDH) as an adviser for freelance work. On November 18, 2005, she was elected as the successor to Magdalene Weiß as President of the BDH, which was renamed the German Midwives Association during her term of office . She stayed in office until November 2009.

Helga Albrecht is married and has two children (* 1979 and 1980).
