Helgoland marathon
The Helgoland Marathon is a marathon on the German North Sea island of Helgoland (1.7 km²) that has been held annually in May since 1998. In the beginning, a hilly circuit with a length of 10.5 kilometers had to be traversed four times. For several years now, the circuit has had a length of 8.4 kilometers plus 195 meters starting point; it has to be run through five times. The difference in altitude per lap is approx. 75 meters, of which 30 meters are accounted for by the “Düsenjäger”, the access road from the northeast area to the cliffs of the Oberland .
