Helios (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Helios is a German band that describes their style as "electronic pop music", but whose roots are unmistakably in synth-pop . The lyrical texts by singer Frank Rössel are mainly in English, but some are also in German.

Band history

The band history begins in 1997, when Frank & Silke Rössel, Ricky Möller and Martin Blechschmidt decided to make music together. In February 1999 the young band played in the support act for Alphaville , in April together with Mesh and Melotron . At the end of the year she was discovered by Carlos Peron, a founding member of the cult band Yello . An agreement was quickly reached, and so in May 2000 the debut album on Peron's label "Himmelpforten Rec." released. Meanwhile the band consists only of Frank and Martin, who founded their own label "Absolute Music" in spring 2005. The single "me without you" was released there in June 2005, followed by the album "copy this day" in September.

In spring 2006 Frank and Martin have been performing live again for a long time (March 25, 2006 Hot-Zone / Jena). Furthermore, foreign assignments will take place again like in Copenhagen on April 1, 2006 with Fake The Envy and Client and on April 4, 2006 with the Echo winners Wir sind Helden and in Salt Lake City on September 2, 2006 on "A Different Drum Synthpop Festival ".
