Hella Nohl

Hella Nohl (born March 12, 1939 ) is a German visual artist. She lives and works in Giessen and Berlin .

Life

Hella Nohl studied art education at the Academy of Fine Arts Mainz and art history at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . From 1965 to 1995 she was teaching. Since 1986 she has intensified her own artistic work.

Hella Nohl lives and works in Gießen and Berlin and is known for her artistic work with red wine . Study stays in Italy, the encounter with its wine landscapes, brought the artist to her topic, the "wine", and led to the fact that she finally used the red wine as a design tool and examined and presented color nuances and color behavior of red wine in a new way.

In addition, she was interested and fascinated by the graphic quality of the vines , and so she developed her own type of script, which she calls "Rebschrift", from the more and more abstracted shape of the vine and its line-up into rows of vines . In work series, series or work groups, the artist deals with the subject of wine in one way or another.

Works by Hella Nohl have been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Spain and Singapore.
