Helmut Gittel
Helmut Gittel (* 1922 ; † January or February 2006 ) was a German local politician.
Career
Gittel was first city treasurer in Schweinfurt . From 1964 to 1990 he was a member of the Munich City Council . From 1972 he was second mayor . Internal party quarrels led to his resignation from the SPD and the establishment of the Social City Hall Block (SRB). In the local elections in 1978, he moved as the only candidate of the SRB in the city council. The newly elected Lord Mayor Kiesl made him Third Mayor.
