Helmut Grobelin

Helmut Grobelin (born May 24, 1956 ; † October 2007 ) was a German judoka who was runner-up in the 1979 European Championship.

Athletic career

Helmut Grobelin started judo at Hamborn 07 and later moved to Sport-Union Annen in Witten. In 1978 and 1979 he won the German championships. In 1979 he lost to the Italian Felice Mariani in the final of the European Championships in Brussels . At the World Championships in Paris in 1979 , Mariani and Grobelin met in the first round and Grobelin was eliminated. In 1980 Grobelin lost to Peter Jupke in the final of the German championships . Grobelin missed due to the Olympic boycott participation in the Olympic Games 1980th
