Helmut Kaldenhoff

Helmut Kaldenhoff (* 1915 in Wesel ; † 1980 in Cologne ) was a German textile artist , glass painter and art professor.

Live and act

Kaldenhoff began his studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1938/39. In the Second World War he served in the Wehrmacht and was only able to continue his studies in 1948. His artistic focus was on glass and textile. From 1952 he established himself as a successful, freelance glass painter and textile designer. In 1962 Kaldenhoff was appointed head of the “Textile Arts” division at the Cologne factory schools . He taught there until his death as an art professor in the field of art and design at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences . He became known in 1965 through the choir windows of the Minorite Church in Cologne in honor of Mary . His further focus was the rediscovery of the almost forgotten classic tapestry weaving with all its artistic expression.
