Helmut Kassner (born November 17, 1960 in Giarmata , Romania ) is a German music teacher , trumpeter , orchestra conductor and composer .

Career

Helmut Kassner comes from a family whose existence in the Banat Swabian village of Jahrmarkt / Giarmata can be traced back to around 1800. In the family, which bore the surname Kaszner from the Austro-Hungarian period, there have been several musicians in the last three generations. 1956 founded Johann Kaszner sen. (1927–2008) a successful band in the Banat. His sons Helmut and Johann Kaszner both became professional musicians with similar backgrounds .

Helmut Kassner got his first knowledge of music from his father. After primary school in the hometown he attended from the 5th year the "Ion Vidu" Music High School in Timisoara / Timişoara and then the "Gheorghe Dima" Conservatory in Cluj / Cluj-Napoca , study trumpet. In 1982 he interrupted his studies at this music college and fled to Germany with his brother from communist Romania . Here he continued his studies at the Karlsruhe University of Music. In 1992 he finished it with a "very good" from Adolf Weresch.

Helmut Kassner had a temporary contract as first trumpeter at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern , played as a temporary trumpeter at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe and in the Württemberg Philharmonic Reutlingen . He often occupies the desk for the first trumpeter in the musicals "Miss Saigon", "Beauty and the Beast", "Cats", "Dance of the Vampires", "Phantom of the Opera", "42 Second Street", which are running in Stuttgart "," Elisabeth "," The Three Musketeers "and" The Best of Musicals on Tour ". As a trumpeter he has produced his own CD.

He teaches at the music school in Ehingen (Danube) and in brass music at TSV Sondelfingen and in the music club Öpfingen . Until 2012, Helmut Kassner conducted the brass orchestra of the Dusslingen Music Association . Helmut Kassner also composes and works as an arranger. His pieces are in the tradition of the Bohemian brass music, which was already influenced by Ernst Mosch. They are recorded on sound carriers by Ernst Hutter & Die Egerländer Musikanten and are also played by other brass bands.

Helmut Kassner lives in Reutlingen , Baden-Württemberg.
