Helmut Rosenvald

Helmut Rosenvald (born February 22, 1929 in Tallinn ; † July 29, 2020 there ) was an Estonian composer and violinist.

life and work

Helmut Rosenvald studied violin from 1942 to 1947 and completed his composition studies with Villem Kapp at the Tallinn State Conservatory (now the Estonian Music and Theater Academy ) in 1963 . From 1961 to 1989 he was a violinist with the Estonian State Symphony Orchestra ( Estonian Eesti Riiklik Sümfooniaorkester - ERSO ).

Since the 1960s, Rosenvald became known as a composer in Estonia and beyond. He composed nine symphonies (1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1974 and 1984) as well as numerous other pieces of music.
