'Helmut Schmidt' is a hybrid tea that was bred by W. Kordes' sons in 1979 and christened in honor of the then Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt . The christening of this rose variety took place during the Federal Garden Show 1979 in Bonn in the presence of Helmut Schmidt, his wife Loki and the breeder Reimer Kordes.

Properties and use

The 'Helmut Schmidt' variety has medium-long and thick shoots. The bushy growing plant is suitable for planting beds . A winter protection is described as advantageous, the variety 'Helmut Schmidt' se hardy is.

The flowering period of 'Helmut Schmidt' extends from June to October. 'Helmut Schmidt' flowers lemon yellow with a light to strong, fresh scent. The 'Helmut Schmidt' rose variety is suitable as a bed and cut rose and prefers deep, nutrient-rich soils. It prefers sunny locations and is winterproof. The rose variety 'Helmut Schmidt' reaches heights of 60 to 70 centimeters.
