Helmut Waldert

Helmut Waldert (born July 25, 1941 in Vienna ; † August 16, 2004 there ) was a multi-award-winning Austrian radio journalist.

Waldert worked as a freelancer for ORF for three decades . His radio colloquium series Money Power Values received particular attention . In this episode, which was first broadcast in 1999, he examined the problems and ecological effects of our money and interest system. Against the extremism of money, Waldert advocated a re-regulation of the financial markets.

Helmut Waldert was considered particularly critical and inappropriate. He received the Austrian State Prize for Science Journalism (1994), the Dr. Karl Renner Prize , the Reischek Prize and, together with his wife Stephanie Waldert, the Austrian State Prize of the Ministry of Education for the broadcast conflict field generations . He was also the recipient of the Environmental Journalist Prize 1998 and the Eduard Hartmann Prize. When Waldert was no longer employed by ORF at the age of 60, he sued for employment. His early cardiac death attracted wide media attention.
