Helmuth Herold

Helmuth Herold (born August 1, 1928 in Trossingen ; † May 3, 2001 ibid) was an important interpreter and teacher of the harmonica . He also composed and arranged many songs and other works for the instrument or for harmonica ensembles and wrote instructions for playing the harmonica. He also developed a special student harmonica.

Life

He started playing the instrument at an early age and made the spread of the harmonica playing his life's work. He founded the Herold Trio and directed the Hohnerklang orchestra .

The harmonica virtuoso Ulrich Müller-Froß wrote about him: “Playing the harmonica was a mirror of his soul because of its close relationship with the breath. The same applies to his playing: soft tone, warm, restrained sound, fine vibrato with the left hand over all notes of a phrase, moderate modulation, renunciation of superfluous virtuosity. "
