Helmuth Vretska

Helmuth Vretska (born April 3, 1935 in St. Pölten ; † 1993 ) was an Austrian classical philologist .

Helmuth Vretska, the son of the grammar school director and later university professor Karl Vretska (1900–1983), studied classical philology at the University of Graz . After completing his doctorate , he worked as a high school teacher in Mürzzuschlag.

Vretska was a specialist in Greco-Roman historiography. He wrote several bilingual editions and translations for the Reclam publishing house as well as numerous articles in the Kleinen Pauly .
