Help the Aged is a UK welfare organization founded in 1961 with the aim of improving the living conditions of the elderly . In 2009 she merged with Age Concern to form Age UK .

Goals and means

In 2005 the organization raised approximately £ 73.9 million, including £ 33 million from donations and bequests . £ 29.4m came from sales of the 370 stores that Help the Aged operates in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which sell donations in kind to the organization, primarily used textiles and everyday items.

The money is mainly used in practical elderly care, but the organization is also present in developing countries. In the sponsorship program Sponsor a Grandparent (formerly Adopt a Granny ) she supports more than 26,000 seniors, mainly in South Asia, Africa and Central America. Help the Aged also offers various financial and insurance services for senior citizens through subsidiaries.

At the same time, the association sees itself as a political advocacy group for British seniors and works against age discrimination in legislation through active lobbying in the political bodies of Great Britain .
