Helvetic College
Helvetic College ( Collegium Helveticum ) was the name of a seminar in Milan for the formation of Catholic clergy for Switzerland , the Cardinal - Archbishop Karl Count Borromeo of Milan in 1579 founded has, during its 200 years of existence for fixing the Catholicism , and especially the Jesuit influence in the Catholic Swiss cantons contributed a lot.
A well-known student of the Collegium Helveticum was the archpriest Nicolò Rusca , who was tortured to death in Thusis in 1618 .
The institution was closed during the revolution towards the end of the previous century and was under the domestic direction of the congregation Oblates of Charles and St. Ambrose .
Research institute of the ETH
Today the term describes an interdisciplinary research institute founded in 1997 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich , which is housed in the premises of the former Swiss Federal Observatory .
