Hemlingby
Hemlingby is a district in the south of Gävle in Sweden , at the foot of the Hemlingbyberget .
history
Hemlingby is an old coastal village that was part of the Suffering Order . Because of its harbor and market square, Hemlingby had become the second largest town in the parish of Valbo around 1560 . The old village consists of two streets that are now part of Hemlingbyvägen and Lövens Tä . In 1760 there were eight farms in the village, most of the land belonged to the influential Gävler families Rettigs and Tolvfors. The buildings have been renovated over time, the oldest preserved in its original form is the old school from 1669. It was moved from Gävle's center to Hemlingby in 1839.
Hemlingby friluftsområde
The Hemlingby Friluftsområde located three kilometers south of Gävle's center in a nature reserve . In friluftsområde is the Hemlingbyberget, with between 0.6 and 15 km long cross-country trails, a ski slope, toboggan slope and a snow park .
Hemlingby gravfold
North of the friluftsområde lies the Hemlingby gravfalt, besides graves, overburden from Iron Age mining has also been found here. It is therefore assumed that Hemlingby as early as 500 BC. Was populated until 1000 AD. Today rare lime-loving plants such as mountain clover and steppe timothy grow on the southern part of the grave field .
