The Henan Airlines Flight 8387 (VD 8387) was a domestic flight of Henan Airlines from Airport Harbin Taiping to airport Yichun Lindu . On the night of August 23, 2010, the Embraer E-190 had an accident during the flight near Yichun Lindu Airport with 91 passengers and five crew members on board. This was the first accident with fatalities involving an Embraer E-190 .
The final report was published in June 2012 by the Chinese State Security Agency for Work Safety (CSAWS) . He found that the crew was not observing the safety regulations for landings in fog .
Accident
After the cruise, the pilots prepared to land on runway 30 at Yichun Lindu Airport. For the captain it was the first approach to this airport. While turning on the final approach, the copilot reported that the runway lights were in sight. On the final approach, the master switched off the autopilot and continued the approach, although the runway was no longer in sight. During a controlled flight into the terrain, the machine hit 870 m from the runway. The plane went up in flames from leaking fuel and was completely destroyed.
The flight accident investigators came to the conclusion that the responsible pilot began the approach despite a visibility range of only 2,800 m reported by the airport control, which was below the minimum visibility of 3,600 m. The crew continued the approach, although the runway was not visible due to radiation fog . Despite the acoustic altitude warning from the radar altimeter , the aircraft did not take off and the planned missed approach procedure was not carried out.
The airline's poor safety management was blamed as another accident factor .
