Henan Airlines (河南 航空), until 2009 Kunpeng Airlines (鲲 鹏 航空 有限公司), is a Chinese regional airline based in Zhengzhou .

history

In December 2006, a joint venture agreement was concluded between Shenzhen Airlines and the Mesa Air Group to establish Kunpeng Airlines . Flight operations as a scheduled, charter and cargo airline began in October 2007. The Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft were leased from the Mesa Air Group.

In August 2008, Kunpeng announced that it would relocate its corporate headquarters and home base to Zhengzhou . Kunpeng flew in losses, but hoped to become profitable with the relocation. The company intends to build a fleet of 200 aircraft and a route network of 900 daily flights by 2016. Also in August 2008, the Mesa Air Group announced that it would sell its shares in Shenzhen Airlines.

In 2009 the airline was renamed Henan Airlines after the joint venture was dissolved. After the incident in August 2010, the airline had to cease operations. In the summer of 2012, there were considerations to continue operating Henan Airlines as a cargo airline , but this has not yet been implemented.
