Hendrik van den Bussche

Hendrik van den Bussche (born May 4, 1945 in Denderbelle, Belgium ) is a German-Belgian doctor and medical historian.

Life

Hendrik van den Bussche studied human medicine from 1962 to 1969 at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium. He then worked as a research assistant at various institutes at the universities of Munich, Ulm and Frankfurt. From 1975 to 1992 he taught as a professor for university didactics in medicine at the University of Hamburg. In 1993 he was appointed director of the Institute for General Practice at the Eppendorf University Hospital in Hamburg. From 2003 to 2006 van den Bussche was Vice Dean for Teaching at the Medical Faculty at the University of Hamburg, and from 2007 to 2010 he was Deputy Medical Director of the Center for Psychosocial Medicine in Eppendorf. He has been retired since 2011.

In addition to his work as a university educator and doctor, van den Bussche also emerged as a medical historian, in particular as an expert on the history of the Hamburg Medical Faculty.
