Holger Fischer
Holger Fischer (* 1946 in Nordholz ) is a German Finnougrist who worked at the University of Hamburg .
Life
After studying history, geography, pedagogy and Finnish-Ugrian studies at the University of Hamburg (1968–1973) and at the Loránd Eötvös University of Budapest (1971–1972), Fischer received his doctorate in Southeast European history in 1978. From 1973 to 1987 he worked in the science administration of the University of Hamburg; From 1987 he was Scientific Secretary of the newly founded Center for Hungarology in the Finnish-Ugric Seminary, the predecessor of today's Institute for Finno-Ugric / Ural Studies . After his habilitation in 2001, he was awarded the academic title of Professor in 2002.
Fischer is the coordinator of the Socrates program "Finno-Ugric Studies, Hungarology, Fennistics ". He was visiting professor at the universities of Jyväskylä , Vienna, Florence, Paris and Padua. From April 2003 to July 2014, Fischer was Vice President of the University of Hamburg with responsibility for studying and teaching. He is a member of the “Governance & Policies” group at the University Forum on Digitization , initiated by the Center for University Development, the University Rectors ' Conference and the Stifterverband , which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research .
