Career

Flaschberger won the Whistler Cup slalom in 1998 and competed in his first FIS races in November of the same year . In 2000 he was accepted into the squad of the Austrian Ski Association . He competed in his first races in the European Cup in January 2001, but only two years later did the next European Cup appearances. In February 2003 Flaschberger celebrated his first victory in an FIS race and in March he took part in the 2003 Junior World Championship in France. There he won the bronze medal in combination with sixth place in giant slalom , 19th place in slalom and 21st place in the downhill .

In January 2004 Flaschberger surprised when he won his first European Cup points with fourth place in the downhill from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee . Previously, only a 52nd place was his best result. From now on he was able to classify himself regularly in the points, but there were no further top 10 placements until the end of the season. The 2004/05 season began Flaschberger with a fourth place in the giant slalom by Levi and in the rest of the winter he was able to classify four times in the top ten. At the end of the season he achieved his best overall result in the European Cup with 17th place. In the 2005/06 season he achieved three top 10 results and in the winter of 2006/07 he finished fifth with a fourth and an eighth place in the super combination ranking. At the Austrian Championships in 2007 he won the bronze medal in the giant slalom behind Romed Baumann and Marcel Hirscher .

On January 18, 2008, Flaschberger reached his only podium in the European Cup as third in the Crans-Montana Super Combined at the same time as the Italian Siegmar Klotz . In the super combination rating, he finished fourth. In the other disciplines he could only score once, which is why he was dismissed from the ÖSV squad after the season. In December 2008 Flaschberger competed in his last European Cup races. Until January 2009 he took part in a few FIS races.
