biography

Klotz drove his first FIS races in January 2003 and competed in the European Cup from February 2007. In the 2007/08 European Cup season he came 14th in the super combined from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee for the first time in the points on December 21, 2007, and on January 18 he reached third place in the super combined from Crans-Montana and a week later in the downhill from Sarntal / Reinswald fourth. In the following European Cup season he could not repeat these results, a 15th place was his best result. In the World Cup Klotz started for the first time on 16 January 2009 and clinched third place, 29 in the super combination of Wengen also equal to his first World Cup points.

On January 28, 2010, he won a European Cup race, a downhill in Les Orres , and achieved second place in the downhill classification with two further podium places in the 2009/10 European Cup season . In the World Cup he remained without points this winter, it was not until the end of 2010 that he scored for the second time with 24th place in the downhill from Bormio . On January 22, 2011, Klotz crashed spectacularly when entering the Traverse in Kitzbühel, but suffered relatively minor injuries (broken left wrist, concussion and several bruises). His best World Cup result was tenth place in the super combination of Wengen on January 18, 2013. He also achieved tenth place on January 25, 2013 in the Super-G in Kitzbühel and on March 3, 2013 in the Super-G in Kvitfjell .

In the following winters, however, Klotz was unable to build on these achievements in the World Cup and only made it into the points sporadically. On March 26, 2016, he announced the end of his career. Only four months later he announced that he would switch to the freestylers and compete in the ski cross discipline . He made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on December 9, 2016; With 29th place in Val Thorens , he immediately won World Cup points. Four days later he finished fourth in Arosa and eighth place at the 2017 World Championships in the Sierra Nevada . In the winter of 2017/18, a ninth place remained his best World Cup result, at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang he finished in 20th place.
