Whistler Cup
The Whistler Cup ( English name, French Coupe Whistler ) is an event in alpine ski racing that has been held in the Canadian ski resort Whistler-Blackcomb since 1993 . It was created based on the model of the Trofeo Topolino, which was held in Italy and, together with it, is one of the two most important international ski races for children between the ages of 11 and 14.
The Whistler Cup is organized by the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and carried out under the supervision and regulations of the International Ski Federation FIS . Among the approximately 400 participants from around 20 to 25 countries each year there are numerous athletes who are later successful in the World Cup as well as at World Championships and Olympic Games. The competitions are held in two age groups. In the younger category Children 1 (K1), a slalom in two runs, a giant slalom with one run and, since 2006, a combination race consisting of a slalom and a giant slalom part, which is also decided in one run, are held. In the older category children 2 (K2), a slalom and a giant slalom are held in two rounds as well as a super-G . There is also a nation ranking based on points. The nation with the highest points receives the trophy called the Whistler Cup , while the fastest runners in the individual competitions receive medals. The number of participants is limited to ten skiers per nation, with the exception of the North American countries Canada and the USA . For the nation ranking, however, only a maximum of ten runners from these countries to be determined before the competition will be considered.
Winners lists
The following lists contain an overview of all winners of the Whistler Cup. In 1998 two giant slaloms were planned, but the second of the men in category K2 was canceled. In 2005 there were no Super-Gs.
