Lotte Smiseth Sejersted (born March 5, 1991 in Bærum ) is a former Norwegian ski racer . She was a member of the national ski team and competed in all disciplines. Her brother Adrian is also an alpine skier.
biography
Sejersted won the Whistler Cup giant slalom in 2004 . In November 2006 she competed in her first FIS races and only two weeks later she took part in the European Cup races for the first time , in which she was only able to classify in the bottom field. Her first major event was the Junior World Championship in Altenmarkt in early March 2007, where her best result was 16th place in the Super-G. Shortly afterwards she won her first FIS race and at the end of the month the then 16-year-old Norwegian champion in downhill and runner-up in super-G.
Sejersted has been regularly competing in the European Cup since the 2007/08 season . However, she did not make it into the points this winter. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 in Formigal , she was able to classify herself for 30th place in three competitions and at the Norwegian Championships in 2008, second place in the downhill was her best result. On November 28, 2008, Sejersted took 29th place in the Kvitfjell Super-G, the first European Cup points and the day after she achieved her best result of the 2008/09 season with 14th place in the second Super-G . Her first major international success came at the 2009 Junior World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , when she won the silver medal in the downhill, behind the French Marine Gauthier . A little later she became Norwegian champion in the super combined, in the super G and in the giant slalom.
At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, Sejersted took part in a World Cup race for the first time in Sölden . In this giant slalom, however, as the penultimate of the first run, she clearly missed qualifying for the second run. A month later, with third place in the giant slalom in Funäsdalen , she achieved her first podium in the European Cup. She won her first World Cup points on December 18, 2009, finishing 28th in the super combined in Val-d'Isère . At the Junior World Championships 2010 , Sejersted won the bronze medal in the downhill and finished second in the combined ranking behind her teammate Mona Løseth . In the summer of 2010 she took part in the races of the Australia New Zealand Cup , won two Super-Gs and two Super-combinations and thus the overall standings.
At the Junior World Championships 2011 Sejersted won the gold medal in the downhill. Then she was nominated by the Norwegian Ski Association for the World Championship in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where she finished 10th in the super combination, but was eliminated in the downhill and super-G. At the end of the season, she won the Norwegian championships in all five disciplines. In the years that followed, Smiseth was never quite able to catch up with the world's best. Results among the top ten were rare. Her best results are three fifth places in 2011, 2013 and 2015. On January 9, 2016, Sejersted fell on the descent from Zauchensee and suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and an inner ligament rupture in his left knee ; she then had to end the season. In mid-November 2016, she suffered another knee injury while training. She could not contest any races in the winter of 2016/17 and finally announced her retirement from top-class sport on April 21, 2017.
