Kristina Riis-Johannessen (born March 5, 1991 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian ski racer . She starts in all disciplines, with her strengths being in giant slalom and super-G .
biography
Riis-Johannessen won the 2004 slalom at the Whistler Cup and the Trofeo Topolino . After reaching the age limit, she contested her first FIS race at the end of November 2006 and celebrated her first victory in the FIS giant slalom in Norefjell on March 11, 2007 . The following winter she was used for the first time in the European Cup , but could not classify herself in the points. By 2011, she came to a total of 18 European Cup appearances, with their best result a 15th place in the Super-G of Kvitfjell was on 30 November, 2008.
In 2008 she became three-time Norwegian Junior Champion in Downhill, Super G and Super Combined and was part of the Norwegian squad for the Junior World Championships in 2009 and 2010 , where she finished 18th as the best result in the 2009 Downhill. At Norwegian championships she has won eight silver medals (slalom 2009, super G 2009 to 2011, downhill 2009 and 2010, super combination 2009 and 2010) and three bronze medals (super combination 2008, slalom 2011, downhill 2011).
In 2011 Riis-Johannessen began studying business administration at the University of Vermont and has therefore almost exclusively competed in races in North America since the 2011/12 season. In December 2011 she finished third in the Panorama slalom on the podium in a Nor-Am Cup race for the first time, and her first victory in this racing series was on December 17, 2013 at the slalom in Vail . In the 2015/16 season she was part of the Norwegian European Cup team, but remained out of action for the entire winter due to an injury.
In 2016/17 Riis-Johannessen took part in competitions again and won a European Cup race for the first time on December 10, 2016 with the combination in Kvitfjell . In the course of the 2016/17 European Cup season , she achieved nine further podium finishes, including three wins, which made her the overall standings. On December 29, 2016, she made her debut in the slalom at Semmering in the World Cup , but was eliminated in the first round. In February 2017 she took part in the World Championships in St. Moritz , where she achieved 21st place in the Super G as the best result. She won her first World Cup points on March 10, 2017 with 24th place in the giant slalom in Squaw Valley .
