Tin Široki (born April 29, 1987 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian ski racer .

biography

Široki won the Super G of the Whistler Cup in April 2002 and competed in his first FIS races in November of the same year . In the European Cup he had only a few appearances and never achieved any results worth mentioning. On the other hand, he had greater success in the Nor-Am Cup , where he placed in the top ten several times and reached third place in the super combination of Panorama on December 10, 2007.

In 2006, Široki took part in the Olympic Games in Turin and was 26th in the super combined. A year later he finished 48th in the Downhill and 52nd in the Super-G at the 2007 World Championships in Åre . The Croatian made his debut in the World Cup on January 27, 2008 : He finished 37th in the Super Combined in Chamonix . A week later he also finished 37th in the super combined in Val-d'Isère . These results remained his best in the World Cup for the next three years. In February 2009, Široki reached the 14th place in the super combined at the World Championships in Val-d'Isère. He was 23rd in the downhill and 37th in the giant slalom.

During the entire 2009/10 season, the Croatian had to take a break due to injury; in November 2010 he returned to competition. On January 14, 2011, Široki won World Cup points for the first time in his 17th World Cup race when he finished 26th in the super combined in Wengen . Nine days later he achieved his best result so far with 13th place in the Hahnenkamm combination in Kitzbühel . However, as the penultimate in this combination, he was already more than 8 percent behind the winning time, which is why he did not receive any World Cup points for it. At the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he started in all disciplines except slalom, but only achieved a result in 18th place in the super combination.
