Bernhard Graf (born November 26, 1988 in Dornbirn ) is an Austrian ski racer . He starts in all disciplines.

biography

Graf graduated from the sports high school in his hometown of Dornbirn. In April 2003 he won all three races of the Whistler Cup in his age group . He drove his first FIS races in December 2003. In 2005 he was accepted into the squad of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV). In the European Cup Graf was the first time in January 2007 at the start. Graf performed well at the 2007 Junior World Championships , where he won three medals (silver in combination, bronze in downhill and super-G). A year later, at the Junior World Championships in 2008 , he could not repeat these successes, here a tenth place in the Super-G was his best result.

In the 2007/08 European Cup season , Graf was able to make it onto the podium in two super combinations and thus came second in the super combined classification. He rose to the A-team of the ÖSV. On February 12th, 2009 he celebrated his first European Cup victory in the Super Combination of Sarntal / Reinswald and again took second place in this discipline in the 2008/09 season . In addition, he finished second in the overall standings behind Florian Scheiber .

Graf's first start in the World Cup was the super combination of Val-d'Isère on December 12, 2008; but he couldn't finish this race. Two months later he drove in the Super Combined from Sestriere for the second time in the World Cup, but missed his first points with 34th place. In February 2009 he started in the super combined at the World Championships in Val-d'Isère, but could not finish the slalom run.

In the winter of 2009/10 Graf drove into the top five in four European Cup giant slaloms, finishing sixth in the discipline ranking and eighth in the overall ranking. He only started twice in the World Cup this winter, but did not score any points and was downgraded from the ÖSV A-squad to the B-squad after the end of the season. In the 2010/11 season, Graf won two races in the European Cup and made it onto the podium four times. He won the Super Combined Classification and was second in the overall and Super G class. In the World Cup, however, he had no result at his only start. At the 2011 Winter Universiade in Erzurum , he won two gold medals in giant slalom and super combined as well as the bronze medal in super G.

In the 2011/12 season Graf was back on the A-team. He won his first World Cup points on November 27, 2011 with 19th place in the Super-G in Lake Louise - his best World Cup result to date - and was then used more often in the World Cup. By the end of the 2011/12 season he achieved a 20th place in the super combination of Wengen and 21st place in the super combination of Sochi ( Krasnaja Polyana ), plus three placements just below the top 30. Nevertheless, he was after Winter released from the ÖSV squad.
