Whistler-Blackcomb

Whistler-Blackcomb is a ski resort which is located near Whistler , in the Canadian province of British Columbia . It mainly consists of a few large hotels, restaurants and vacation homes. The site is 675 meters above sea level and is approximately 126 kilometers from Vancouver . The Whistler-Blackcomb ski area has been part of the Vail Resorts , a ski resort operator from the USA , since August 2016 .

Two mountains are developed for winter sports, Whistler Mountain (2182 m) and Blackcomb Peak (2440 m). The highest point that can be reached by ski lift is on Blackcomb Peak at an altitude of 2184 meters above sea level. The ski area is accessed by 24 main ski lifts. The ski run with the greatest difference in altitude in North America (1609 meters) is on Blackcomb. Whistler-Blackcomb, the largest ski area in North America, covers an area of ​​approximately 22 square kilometers.

Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Peak are linked by the Peak 2 Peak Gondola . A gondola takes around eleven minutes to cover the 4.4 km route. The track was inaugurated in December 2008.

There is a glacier on Blackcomb Peak that is open to summer skiing from June to August.

Whistler-Blackcomb hosted the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics for alpine skiing competitions.
