Andrea Filser (born March 25, 1993 ) is a German ski racer . She specializes in the disciplines of slalom and giant slalom . In 2018 she became German slalom champion.

biography

Filser took part in FIS races and national junior races from December 2008, at the age of 15 . After initially competing in all disciplines, a specialization in slalom and giant slalom gradually emerged. In January 2011 she achieved her first victory in an FIS race, two months later she became German slalom junior champion. She was able to successfully defend this title a year later. She started playing in the European Cup from November 2011. Filser made her World Cup debut on November 10, 2012 in the slalom of Finland . During the 2012/13 season she finished three times in the top ten in the European Cup, and in the 2013 Junior World Championship she just missed a medal twice. She took her first (and so far only) World Cup points on March 10, 2013 with 23rd place in the slalom in Ofterschwang .

A lower leg fracture in December 2013 suddenly stopped Filser's rise. She took part in races again from November 2014, but was unable to build on her earlier achievements. Through the European Cup, she tried to get back to the top of the world. A cruciate ligament tear , which she suffered in the first European Cup race of the 2016/17 season, threw her back again. One more time she had to approach the European Cup. Four World Cup appearances in winter 2017/18 remained without a countable result; however, she won the German slalom championship at the end of the season.
