She has been a German-Liechtenstein citizen since she was eight. Supported by her father, who is a ski instructor and ski instructor trainer and who also presides over the Schaan Ski Club, she initially started for the Liechtenstein ski association. She took in 2012 in the Canadian Whistler at the prestigious youth races Whistler Cup part and won the giant slalom. The first use in FIS races followed in November 2013 at the age of 16. She achieved her first victory at this level on March 3, 2015 in the Malbun slalom . A day later she won the Liechtenstein slalom championship title.

In 2014, Hilzinger expressed the wish to start for Germany in the future, as the Liechtenstein Ski Association (LSV) could not support them enough in their opinion. Initially, it was agreed that she would continue to race for Liechtenstein at least until the end of the 2014/15 season. In addition, the LSV offered her improved training conditions, including her own technical trainer and increased cooperation with Tina Weirather . In April 2015, the LSV announced that Hilzinger had definitely decided to switch to the German Ski Association (DSV).

Hilzinger, who graduated from Gertrud-von-le-Fort-Gymnasium in Oberstdorf and is a member of the local ski club, was immediately used in the World Cup at the beginning of the 2015/16 season , although she did not yet have a single countable result in the European Cup . On November 28, 2015, she finished 25th in the Aspen slalom , winning her first World Cup points straight away. Due to an injury, she had to take a break for almost the entire 2015/16 season. In January 2017 she won two European Cup races.
