Henning Freiberg

Henning Freiberg (born December 26, 1937 ) is a retired German art educator and university professor.

Life

Freiberg is emeritus professor for art education at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig (HBK). After studying art education at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1960 to 1965 teaching at various grammar schools, a. a. at the Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Braunschweig .

From 1971 to 1974 Freiberg led a school experiment with art / visual communication as a major in the upper school. Since 1974 he has been a professor at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig, from 1999 to 2003 Vice-President. In 1984 he founded the research facility Computer Graphics and Aesthetic Education (ACE) at the HBK and managed it until his retirement in 2003. In 1985 he took over the scientific advice of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Culture for New Technologies and Digital Media in Aesthetic Education within the framework of the BLK -Model experiment "New Technologies and General Education" and led numerous central teacher training courses for Lower Saxony art educators in the field of digital image media. With the ACE, in cooperation with the Sprengel Museum Hannover, he developed a multimedia art information system for several artists. Numerous publications and lectures on the problem of dealing with the new digital image media in education and training.
