Henri Cartal
Henri Cartal (* around 1875 in Paris ; place and date of death unknown) was a French singer (baritone).
Live and act
Cartal came to Québec with the theater company of René Harmant in 1897 and performed there in coffee houses and theaters, including the Eldorado and the Théâtre des Variétés . Harmant took over the management of the Théâtre du Palais-Royal in 1900 , where the company played successfully until 1903. During this time Cartal also recorded well-known coffeehouse songs such as Le Printemps s'avance and Quand on a travaillé for Emil Berliner in Montreal. Recordings were also made for Edison Records and Columbia Records , some of which have been preserved, just like the earlier ones. Around 1907 Cartal also had solo appearances in the cinema theater of Léo-Ernest Ouimet . Nothing is known about the further life of Cartal.
