Henri Simonis

Guillaume Henri Simon Simonis (born October 14, 1640 in Verviers ; † April 2, 1725 there ) was a cloth manufacturer and founder of the Iwan Simonis billiard cloth factory .

Life

Born as the son of Henri Simon Simonis (* 1599; † 1679) and his wife Anne Marie Nizet (* unknown; † 1693), he married Anne Nicole Collet (* 1649; † 1726) on January 22, 1668. They had a son, Henri Simonis (June) (* 1649, † 1726). In 1680, Henri (Sen.), also known as "le Mercier" ("the haberdashery"), founded the Iwan Simonis billiard cloth factory in the town of Verviers in the Weser valley, which today is one of the world market leaders in this area.
