Henry Redpath

Henry Adeney Redpath (born June 19, 1848 in Forest Hill , London , † September 24, 1908 in London) was an English Anglican theologian and Septuagint researcher .

Life

Henry Redpath studied at Queen's College of Oxford University . In 1871 he graduated with a BA . In 1872 he was appointed deacon and two years later he was ordained a priest. He served as a preacher in Southam (1872–75) and Luddesdown (1876–80), as a vicar in Wolvercote (1880–83), as a pastor in Holwell , County Dorset (1883–90), as a vicar in Sparsholt (1890–98 ) and from 1898 as pastor in St. Dunstan in east London.

From 1901 to 1905 he lectured on Septuagint research at Oxford University . The extensive Concordance on the Septuagint (cited as Hatch-Redpath ), which he published together with Edwin Hatch from 1897 onwards, is still considered to be a fundamental work of biblical scholarship.
