Henry Winnington

Henry Jeffreys Winnington (* 1795 ; † 1873 ) was a British politician.

Life

Henry Winnington was a son of Edward Winnington, 2nd Baronet and his wife Anne, a daughter of Thomas Foley, 1st Baron Foley . He had four brothers, including Thomas , who later became the 3rd Baronet, and five sisters. The British Rear Admiral Herbert Frederick Winnington-Ingram was the son of his brother Edward Winnington-Ingram.

When his cousin Thomas Foley became the 4th Baron Foley member of the House of Lords in 1833 and had to give up his seat in the House of Commons , Henry Winnington was chosen as his successor in the resulting by-election. Winnington represented the Worcestershire Western constituency in the House of Commons until 1841.
