Ratl weight from the Umayyad period

Red was an Arab gold and silver weight. The weights were very different between Cairo and Damascus .

  • In Cairo, 1 red = 9285 As (1 Dutch = 0.048 grams ) = 445.68 grams
  • In Damascus 1 red = 46421 As (Dutch) = 2228.21 grams
